What Reiki Is
Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. When 'Rei' and 'Ki' are broken down into syllables, the Kanji (Japanese alphabet) describes Rei as essence, universal, transcendental spirit and mysterious power. Ki is described as life force energy, very similar to Chi used in Chinese medicine.
Reiki is done by the laying on of hands, but is different from other healing modalities because of the attunements or initiation process given to students in various degrees or levels of Reiki classes. A student who has completed the Reiki attunements has been given a very ancient technology for fine tuning and healing the imbalances of the physical, emotional and ethereal body to a higher vibratory level.
Reiki is passed from the practitioner and taken in by the recipient though the transference of Ki energy. It is extremely effective in reducing stress, sending healing energy and increasing relaxation. The greatest benefits are that it is simple to use, easy to learn and once the student has been attuned, he or she can do Reiki self-treatments.
Reiki can be used on people, animals, plants, water, food, medication or even cars much in the same way we say blessings or pray for loved ones.
Reiki HistoryReiki was discovered in the mid 1800s in a Tibetan monastery by Dr. Mikao Usui. Prior to his discovery, there are contradictions as to the true origins of what we now call Reiki, but it is believed that Dr. Usui was Dean of a Christian University in Kyoto, Japan. After Dr. Usui's discovery of the ancient scrolls he had no knowledge as to how to use the technology. He went to a sacred mountain in Japan called Mount Kuri Yama for a 21 day fast and meditation. It was on the 21st day that he received the spiritual and sacred symbols that we now pass to the student during the attunements.
Shortly before Dr. Usui's death, he appointed Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, a retired Naval officer as his successor. Dr. Hayashi founded the first Reiki clinic in Tokyo. Japan.
Mrs. Hawaya Takata, a Japanese-American woman from Hawaii brought Reiki to the United States prior to World War II. She became very ill and went to Japan to have surgery. It was there that she met Dr. Hayashi and was cured without having surgery. Through her persistence, Dr. Hayashi attuned Mrs. Takata. During that time period only men were allowed to become Reiki students, however, Mrs. Takata proved to be Dr. Hayashi's most devoted student. Prior to Dr. Hayashi's passing just before World War II, he sensed the destruction of Japan and asked Mrs. Takata to preserve Reiki.
Thanks to Mrs. Takata, Reiki has now been passed on to thousands of students throughout the world. Mrs. Takata passed in 1980.
You will be glad you did!
The Reiki experience is different for each individual. There have often been reports of deep relaxation, tension reduction and emotional release. It is done in a peaceful setting on a massage therapy table while the client is fully clothed. It is gentle and nurturing. A hands on session usually lasts about 1 hour. Reiki can also be sent long distance (in absentia) and has been quite effective with the same results as actually having the client on the massage therapy table.
Absentia Reiki
Absentia Reiki is done without the presence of the client or pet. It is sent much in the same manner we send prayer with the addition of the sacred Reiki symbols being applied. One additional symbol is added specifically intended for in absentia Reiki work. Many practitioners find absentia Reiki as effective as the hand-on method. In fact, some prefer absentia Reiki.
It is recommended by some of the earlier Reiki Masters that Reiki be performed on three subsequent days in order to receive the full benefit of Reiki energy. I was traditionally trained and attuned in the 1st and 2nd degree by a Master who is a member of the Reiki Alliance. Thus, I will commit to working on you or your pet for three consecutive days. An absentia session lasts anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on the time it takes for the transference of 'ki" energy to occur. I will be working on the entire physical body simultaneously using the traditional Usui Reiki method. My previous experience has been that an absentia Reiki session is as effective if not even more so than a private hands on consultation.
I will need your name or your pet's name along with a photograph of you or your pet once contact is made. This helps me to focus on my recipient energetically while sending Reiki. I was also a member of the American Dowser's Society in the mid 1990's, and continue to use dowsing when working with animals. I will not interfere with any process that is needing to occur. I will always work with the intent and ask that the energy be sent and received for the highest and best good for you and your pet. If you are requesting Reiki for a loved one, I will only work on them with their permission. Please send me detailed information from the Contact page and I will be in touch as soon as possible.
